QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2021


Saint Petersburg universities have expanded their presence and improved their positions in the QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2021. Published on December 15, QS EECA University Rankings 2021 includes 13 St Petersburg HEIs: Saint Petersburg State University ranked 3rd place, ITMO University – 36th place (formerly 46th place), Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University – 45th place (formerly 47th place), Saint Petersburg State Electrotechnical University – 143th place (formerly 145th place), Saint Petersburg Mining University – 165th place (formerly 173th place), Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia – 199th place (formerly Group 201-210), Saint-Petersburg State Institute of Technology – Group 221-230, Saint-Petersburg State Economic University – Group 221-230 (formerly Group 241-250), Saint-Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics – Group 251-300, Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University – Group 301-350, Saint-Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation – Group 301-350, Russian State Hydrometeorological University – Group 301-350 , Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering – Group 351-400.

3 HEIs with branches in Saint Petersburg are also included in the ranking: HSE University – 16th place (formerly 17th place), Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration – 136th place (formerly 140th place), Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation – 157th place (formerly 174th place).

Thus, the updated QS University Rankings includes all formerly represented in it Saint Petersburg universities. At the same time, Russian State Hydrometeorological University entered the QS EECA ranking for the first time.

Data on QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2021 rating indicates that in recent years positions of both St. Petersburg and Russian universities in this international ranking in general have strengthened: 121 Russian universities are represented in the new ranking. The best positions among Russian universities were taken by Lomonosov Moscow State University – 1st place, St. Petersburg State University – 3rd place, Novosibirsk State University – 5th place, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology – 9th place (formerly 11th place), Tomsk State University – 10th place.
