Jose Matos and Vivian Sossa Aransibia visited SPbGASU

On February 28, Professor Jose Matos from the University of Minho, President of the European Association for the Control of Quality of Bridges and Structures (EuroStruct), vice president of the International Association for the Design of Bridges and Structural Engineering (Portugal) and Vivian Sossa Aransibia, teacher at the Department of Resistance of Materials and Structural Design of Buildings and Facilities of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) visited SPbGASU. At a meeting with the CEOs and teachers of SPbGASU, the parties informed each other about the structure and educational process at their universities, their participation in international scientific and educational cooperation, exchanged plans for scientific events and agreed to sign a cooperation agreement between the University Minho and SPbGASU.

According to representatives of the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering, during the meeting a number of areas for mutually beneficial cooperation were identified.

During the visit, Vivian Sossa Aransibia gave a lecture on “Non-Destructive Testing Methods (NDTM) of structures. The use of ground penetrating radar to identify pathologies in structures,” and Jose Matos gave a talk on “Monitoring the operational status of bridges: a European approach”.
