The programme is relevant because it is designed to train personnel for work in globally developing areas such as biomedicine, biotechnology, and bioengineering. Being at the intersection of several disciplines, these scientific areas improve the application of genetic engineering methods.

You will find admission policies in 2020 here.

The advantages of the programme are its fundamental general biological training of students and its interdisciplinary approach. Among the main academic courses are: anatomy; physiology and histology; cell biology; genetic engineering and biotechnology; tissular and cellular engineering; genetic technologies in medicine; and immunology. Special attention is paid to: mathematics; physics; chemistry; computational biology; and bioinformatics. These are the disciplines that are of vital importance for successful work in the field of high technology.

As part of practical training, students will have access to the technological capabilities of the University: the Research Park of St Petersburg University and the equipment from BIOCAD. The programme is implemented in collaboration with this company. At the lectures delivered by leading scientists and specialists of Russia and foreign countries, students will receive relevant information on the recent advances in Russian and world science.

This is a full-time, four-year programme, and there will be scholarship and paid tuition places.  Acquired knowledge and practical skills provide graduates with job prospects in: biotechnological companies; medical institutions; research institutes; and other organisations whose activities are related to biology and medicine.
