LETI Launches Three International Student Projects


ETU "LETI" students will participate in joint events with representatives of universities from 6 countries on engineering, social, and linguistic topics.

In April-June 2021, LETI will hold three online student projects on topics ranging from innovative technologies to linguistics in cooperation with universities in France, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brunei. The events will cover all of the educational areas of the university.

Global Technovation Challenge

The Global Technovation Challenge 2021 will engage students in joint solving practical problems in technology and innovation. From the end of April, participants will be guided and mentored by speakers and facilitators, including two LETI experts, helping them develop prototypes, which will be showcased at the virtual competition in the final. Representatives from ETU "LETI," Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, University Teknologi Brunei, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), and Universitas Indonesia will group up into international teams of 10 people each.

Participants will learn how to clearly evaluate and transform their ideas into business opportunities and effectively communicate them to various audiences. The organizers of the event aim to teach students design thinking, teamwork, and the ability to solve problems in a short time to overcome the difficulties of a community. A crucial part of the competition will be the Sustainable Development Goals, designed by the UN to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all."

Continuing Russian-Japanese-French Cooperation

A new phase in the series of projects between LETI, Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto, Japan), and Hybria/Eklya University (Lyon, France), taking place from April 22 to June 6, will focus on the educational programs of the three universities. Twelve students from ETU "LETI," representing each of the seven faculties and institutes, will tell other participants about the trends in their field in Russia.

Until April 5, the International Academic Mobility Department will select communicative and creative students with an Upper-Intermediate (B2) level of English to participate in the project. Students will be able to immerse themselves in a multicultural environment, listen to lectures by guest speakers from Russia, France, and Japan, and receive a certificate.

Experience shows that it is more difficult for students to get involved in such projects closer to graduation, and they begin to lose interest in participating. Linguistic Project

Students from LETI and Hybria/Eclya University (Lyon, France) have already begun cooperating on a linguistic project. To give Russian students practice in the language of Balzac and give French students practice in English, participants deliver short lectures about certain areas of public life and discuss the situation in their countries. During the project, which ends April 23, students will discuss gender equality, ecology, politics, values, and the contradictions of traditions and trends.

In June 2020, ETU "LETI" held the first online student exchange project "COVID-19: Current Impact and Future Workplace" with Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto, Japan). The organizers aimed to encourage students to be motivated in learning even when the COVID-19 pandemic hampers all to travel and research overseas.

In December 2020, the joint online project "Social and Industrial Changes under COVID-19 Pandemic Situation" ended, which brought together three universities; the Hybria/Eklya University (Lyon, France) entered the list of participants. Invited experts from Rosmorport, Export'ease, TOYOTA Motor Corporation - companies directly influenced by the pandemic - also took part in the project.
